Supreme Court to Decide – HR News

The U.S. Supreme Court Nov. 10, 2009, heard arguments in a case that raises the question of the appropriate standard for determining a company’s place of business for purposes of federal diversity jurisdiction. The answer to the question will establish when certain class-action lawsuits brought by employees in plaintiff-friendly state court can be removed by corporations to federal court, a venue they might prefer (Hertz Corp. v. Friend (08-1107)).
