I have always found it worthwhile to remember my goals in management, and how developing and tweaking my communication skills with others should work in concert with those goals. Thinking before I speak rarely fails me when I am striving to develop and maintain solid business relationships.

Freddie Mac’s Christmas Eve securities filing on executive compensation showed that the company’s human-resources chief, Paul George, is among the mortgage company’s five highest-paid officers, with annual pay of up to $2.7 million, depending on incentive payments.

The U.S. Supreme Court Nov. 10, 2009, heard arguments in a case that raises the question of the appropriate standard for determining a company’s place of business for purposes of federal diversity jurisdiction. The answer to the question will establish when certain class-action lawsuits brought by employees in plaintiff-friendly state court can be removed by corporations to federal court, a venue they might prefer (Hertz Corp. v. Friend (08-1107)).

While I don’t believe that the HR Evolution has the same historical significance that the Berlin Wall does, I do think that HR’s Berlin Wall is the same in a metaphorical sense. The message from the HR Evolution (un)conference is clear, “Tear down this Wall.”
