UK-Part 4: TruLondon II continues, was trying to absorb it all.

My apologies for the delay in getting out the final 2 installments of TruLondon II.  This is 4 with 5 coming and then you all can bury the series like dog with a bone in the backyard.

We’re at day-2 of the TruLondon II unconference with today starting a little later after a quite long evening of getting to know lots of people as well touring around various haunts in London. (home earlier then some…you know who you are) Thank goodness for my guide and friend Jess @blogging4jobs for having a great sense of direction and where exactly our hotel was located. The cab drivers could of made a few extra pounds off me otherwise.

Heading in for day two kicking it off with more discussions around Social Media ROI, sort of. The topics was brought up several times by name but no really jumped into it with both feet. Measurement for new media it still part of the “to be developed” later part of the model. Phase 1 being raising awareness and a new real-time communication (push or pull) with anyone in your network, this was the extent of the ROI conversation. I’m hopeful that TruUSA or other TruEvents later in the year will have a roll-up your sleeves and get “ROI dirty” with a track.

Another topic that got threw into the discussion ring was “Facebook” using it for both personal and professional, basically sharing your life with a lot of people you deal with all the time. The divide was very cultural, folks from the UK vocalized that they had “no interest” in sharing stuff about their kids with people they did business with conversely several folks from the US voiced the completely the opposite. At the end of the day, everyone agreed to use the

application the same way they had been (with one exception), Bravo! The other track I really enjoyed was Dee Allan from Redmos ’s session on learning. The discussion was very enjoyable (to listen) as it went several directions with various streams of thought.

There was a little more business talk today, probably because everyone was more comfortable with both listening, learning and even trying to make a some money at some point. I know that I was starting to reflect on the two days of discussion sorting it out in ye’ ole’ brain. We had plans for an actual business meeting on the evening of day 2, so we headed out from the event over to the IOD for drink, conversation and wonderful dinner with more definite business conversation. I was able to enjoy quite a bit of Pinot Noir and the to top off the trip a nice liver wrapped in bacon (priceless). We had a solid 3 hour dinner and much was worked on and worked through, thank you my partners at RT. I called it a night earlier than most, it was needed for a big final day of sightseeing and Football down south.

  1. Very nice post, maybe by combining yours and my ideas I will manage to start some serious work on my first blog.

  2. Bryan,

Thanks for the post! You just reminded me that I need to download all my great pictures from my camera. I loved that museum and cafe. Man, I can’t wait to go back!
